Summary of May 2022

Today is June 2, 2022, Thursday, the fourth day of the fifth month of the lunar calendar. Yesterday was International Children's Day, and tomorrow is the Dragon Boat Festival.

International Children's Day is observed on June 1 every year to commemorate the Lidice massacre on June 10, 1942, and all children who died in wars around the world. In November 1949, the International Democratic Women's Federation held a council meeting in Moscow, where representatives from China and other countries exposed the crimes of imperialism and reactionary forces in killing and poisoning children. The meeting decided to designate June 1 as International Children's Day to protect the rights to survival, health, education, and upbringing of children worldwide, to improve children's lives, and to oppose the killing and poisoning of children.

The Dragon Boat Festival, also known as Duanwu Festival, is a traditional festival that combines worshiping gods and ancestors, praying for blessings, warding off evil spirits, celebrating, and enjoying food and entertainment. The festival originated from the worship of natural celestial phenomena and evolved from ancient dragon sacrifices. During the midsummer Dragon Boat Festival, the Azure Dragon constellation rises in the south, marking the most auspicious day of the year. The Dragon and dragon boat culture have always been integral to the historical heritage of the Dragon Boat Festival. The festival is a traditional cultural holiday popular in China and countries influenced by Chinese characters. It is said to commemorate the poet Qu Yuan of the Chu state during the Warring States period, who drowned himself in the Miluo River on the fifth day of the fifth month. The festival also has origins related to Wu Zixu, Cao E, and Jie Zitui. The Dragon Boat Festival's origins encompass ancient celestial culture, humanistic philosophy, and other rich cultural connotations.

In between these two festivals is the quantum mechanics exam. I still remember the scene of the mid-term test as if it were yesterday, but today is already the final exam, and time flies. This marks a year of writing monthly summaries, starting in May (or was it June), and now a year has passed, and my sophomore year is almost over. It's not that I don't cherish the present moment, but time waits for no one.

Azure Lane is celebrating its fifth anniversary, but my Vanguard is still in the pool. I might have to dig deep this time. I didn't expect the gacha to treat an old player like me this way. Not good, young people these days don't show respect...

Oh right, let's get back on track and summarize May. I finished Engineering Drawing, Material Mechanics, and Fundamentals of Materials Science in May. The results for Material Mechanics are out, not bad, but I don't know about Materials Science yet. As for Engineering Drawing... it's a sore subject, let's not dwell on it, just wait for the consequences. Fundamentals of Material Crystallography and Solid State Physics seem to be getting increasingly difficult, especially nearing the end of the semester. These two subjects are a bit tough, but challenges must be faced head-on, bring it on! Additionally, the CuBiC project is also progressing steadily, unsure if it will be successfully completed in the end, will report back later.

So, June, summer in Wuhan, is here again. What memories will this year bring, let's look forward to it. As for July and August, it's summer vacation life, with air conditioning and watermelon 🍉, completing STAR tasks, working on GitHub Repos, playing Minecraft, it shouldn't be boring. じゃね~
